When the L & A Railroad came through the area in 1899 a turntable was built here on land that was subdivided by Mr. A.R. Johnson. He named the little community in 1901 after a former home in Wisconsin and the post office was relocated to the town. The date of first incorporation is 1963.
In 2001, Ashland celebrated its’ Centennial Celebration with a Spring Festival, and is continuing the festival annually the last weekend of March. Miss Ashland Spring Festival Queen is crowned during the Ashland Spring Festival Pageant.
