Briarwood: The Caroline Dormon Nature Preserve
45 minutes from Natchitoches in Saline, LA. Home of Caroline Dormon, first woman employed in forestry in the United States and leader in the designation of Kisatchie as a National Forest. Briarwood is a wild garden of native plants. Admission. Open weekends, March, April, May, August and November. Saturday 9-5, Sunday Noon-5 or by appointment.
